Awarded the Seoul Social Welfare Council President's Prize
For Donating 2,000 Upcycled Padding Jackets
Hyundai Department Store announced on the 24th that it received the 'Chairperson Award of the Seoul Social Welfare Council' at the 10th 'Seoul Energy Welfare Sharing Awards' in recognition of its efforts to share with vulnerable groups through upcycling of padding products.
Hosted by the Seoul Social Welfare Council and sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Energy Welfare Sharing Awards select individuals and organizations that have exemplary practices in energy welfare and sharing for energy-vulnerable groups within Seoul. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event.
Hyundai Department Store upcycled padding items collected through the eco-friendly campaign '365 Recycle,' which involved the participation of over 2,000 customers. After separating the outer fabric and lining of the padding, and undergoing sorting and processing, 270 kg of filling material was secured and used to produce padding vests, which are highly useful in winter and preferred by vulnerable groups.
In consultation with the Seoul Social Welfare Council, Hyundai Department Store delivered a total of 2,000 upcycled padding vests: 1,300 to Seoul’s Shelter Counseling Centers (Donui-dong, Changsin-dong, Namdaemun, Seoul Station, Yeongdeungpo), 326 to the Seoul Child Welfare Association (12 child welfare centers), and 374 to the Seoul Metropolitan Comprehensive Support Center for Restarting Life.
Yang Myung-seong, Executive Director of Sales Strategy at Hyundai Department Store, said, "The eco-friendly campaign conducted together with our customers was even more meaningful as it extended to sharing activities for vulnerable groups struggling with the cold wave. We will continue to strive to share various ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) values with the local community through the platform of the department store."
