Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Ju Gwang-deok) announced on the 24th that the Namyangju branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union donated 3 million KRW as a designated donation to the Namyangju Welfare Foundation on the 23rd to help local foster grandparent households.

This donation was made to practice neighborly love and spread a culture of sharing by supporting economically disadvantaged households among children under the care of grandparents due to the absence of parents.
At the donation ceremony, Mayor Ju Gwang-deok of Namyangju City, Kim Yong-yeon, head of the Namyangju branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union, and Won Byung-il, CEO of the Namyangju Welfare Foundation, attended and discussed specific plans for the use of the donation and the selection of beneficiaries.
Kim Yong-yeon, the branch head, said, “We wanted to share warm affection with the disadvantaged neighbors in the local community with the kindness of about 2,500 Namyangju union members,” adding, “We plan to continue various volunteer and sharing activities that can be done together with citizens.”
Mayor Ju Gwang-deok said, “We appreciate the union’s deep interest and support for neighbors in need,” and added, “Namyangju City will continue to make steady efforts to spread a culture of donation and enhance citizens’ welfare awareness.”
The Namyangju branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union is the largest public officials union in the northern Gyeonggi region with a membership rate of about 94%, and it carries out various activities aimed at protecting the rights and improving the welfare of its members.
