Upcycling Process of Waste Banners... Rebirth of Eco-Friendly Products
The Busan Institute of Science and Technology Education Promotion (BISTEP) held a 'Resource Donation Ceremony for Upcycling Waste Banners' on the 23rd.
This donation ceremony was conducted as part of the 'Business Agreement for Local Community Contribution and Resource Circulation' signed last September between BISTEP and Rotat, a Busan-based preliminary social enterprise, to practice eco-friendly activities in cooperation with the local community.
Following last year's first donation ceremony, this second event aims to transform waste banners into various eco-friendly products. Although banners are often discarded after one-time events, the banners donated to Rotat are upcycled into eco-friendly products such as canvases, pouches, and goods through an upcycling process.
Through this, it contributes not only to environmental protection but also to meaningful activities that assign new economic value to waste.
Accordingly, BISTEP collects and stores banners used in internal and external events of the institution and donates them, continuously carrying out eco-friendly activities in cooperation with the local community. In particular, for this donation ceremony, BISTEP employees actively participated in the clean collection and organization of banners used in various events. This provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of environmental protection and directly practice the value of resource circulation.
Kim Young-bu, Director of BISTEP, stated, “This resource donation is significant not only in reducing waste but also in contributing to the revitalization of Busan’s social economy,” adding, “We will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the local community through various eco-friendly projects.”
