Harim continued, "To be honest, I am also using singing as an excuse to express the anger I have not yet properly voiced," saying, "Recalling that day feels like a robber suddenly stormed into the house in the middle of the night. People had to grab whatever was at hand, wave it in the dark, or throw on anything and rush out onto the street." He added, "After that incident, the news circled around without anything new, and people each poured out plausible analyses on social media. Some praised the wave of light sticks or the so-called 'K protest' culture," but he said, "I just often thought of my uncle, a victim of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement."
He also said, "Some say it is unreasonable to compare this with Gwangju. He might argue that his martial law did not kill anyone," explaining, "But that day's incident reminded me of my family's pain and reminded many people of cruel events that happened long ago." Finally, he added, "It was like a failed 'random murder' warning post. A tangible fear created by intangible words. It was a voice that called monsters like black magic summoning evil spirits from a distant world." He said, "I hope the monsters coming from that world all explode and disappear in a flash before their full form is revealed to the world. I hope it ends like a movie."
Earlier in May, Harim revealed that his uncle was a victim of the May 18 Democratization Movement. In a post at the time, he said, "When I was very young, my uncle ran a video store in Gwangju. He was somewhat physically disabled and usually sat in an inner room, but one day his illness worsened and he passed away," adding, "My mother told me that my uncle was hurt by soldiers during May 18, and because of that, he was sick for a long time until his illness worsened and he passed away."
