On the 23rd, Yangju City held a friendly soccer match at the local ‘Godeok Sports Park’ between Fujiieda City MYFC Academy U-18 team and youth soccer teams from the northern Gyeonggi region, including local teams, and successfully completed the event, the city announced on the 24th.
This match was held to further strengthen the friendly relations between the two cities and to provide an important opportunity for youth from both countries to broaden mutual understanding.
The event was attended by Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City, Sports Council Chairman Lim Jae-geun, and Yangju City Football Association Chairman Jeong Chang-beom, who encouraged the players.
The morning match featured a game between the Yangju Sol U-18 soccer team and the Fujiieda City MYFC Academy U-18 team, followed in the afternoon by a match against the Uijeongbu Gwangdong FC U-18 team.
After the matches, representatives from both sides gathered at the Yangju City Football Association building to discuss concrete plans for expanding soccer exchanges among middle school-aged players.
In particular, the two cities discussed expanding exchange programs for youth soccer development and specific implementation plans, seeking ways to cooperate for sustainable exchange activities in the future.
Sports Council Chairman Lim Jae-geun said, "Sports exchanges will be an opportunity not only for regional soccer development but also for bringing the youth of the two countries closer together.”
Football Association Chairman Jeong Chang-beom also encouraged the players, saying, "Today’s match will serve as a catalyst to further activate sports exchanges between the two cities.”
Mayor Kang Su-hyun stated, “I hope that through this match, the players can communicate with a wider world through sports and build friendships,” adding, “This will be a meaningful occasion to promote friendship between the two cities.”
Meanwhile, Yangju City plans to continue promoting various programs to activate youth sports exchanges and support their growth as global leaders.
