Research on Future Wireless Optical Communication Technology Development
Professor Jeong Yeon-ho, majoring in Information and Communication Engineering at Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon), was announced to have been finally selected for the 2024 Top 100 National Research and Development Achievements.
Professor Jeong Yeon-ho was recognized for his outstanding research on the development of future new wireless optical communication technology using ultraviolet rays.
The Top 100 National Research and Development Achievements is a selection of excellent research in six major technology fields?△Mechanical and Materials △Life and Marine △Energy and Environment △Information and Electronics △Convergence △Pure Basic and Infrastructure?conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT since 2006.
Among 869 candidates recommended by government ministries this year, the final Top 100 were selected through evaluation by a selection committee composed of 100 experts from industry, academia, and research, as well as public verification.
The research by Professor Jeong Yeon-ho selected this time demonstrated the theoretical modeling of a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication system using ultraviolet rays, as well as its implementation in actual hardware and verification through experimental demonstration, proving its feasibility. This research was published in top international journals in the fields of electrical, electronic, and computer engineering, and has been filed for patents in the United States and Korea.
Researchers selected for the Top 100 Achievements receive a certificate and plaque signed by the Minister of Science and ICT, and can receive additional points in project selection and institutional evaluations. They are also eligible to be recommended as candidates for national research and development performance awards, among other benefits.
