Discussion on Revitalizing the Livelihood Economy Among Leaders of Over 30 Institutions and Organizations Including City Hall, City Council, and Police Station
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam recently held the ‘Expanded Meeting of the Regional Economic Revitalization Council’ on the afternoon of the 23rd at the city hall’s main conference room to overcome the difficulties of the local economy amid political turmoil and to create an environment where citizens can live with peace of mind.
This meeting was organized to bring together heads of over 30 key institutions and organizations in the fields of economy, safety, and welfare, including Yangsan City, the city council, police station, fire station, employment and labor office, and chamber of commerce, to discuss ways to overcome the current crisis and share wisdom.
In particular, Yangsan City has already formed its own Livelihood Stability TF team to actively respond to the crisis situation, but recognizing the limitations of efforts by Yangsan City alone, this meeting was held to share the sense of crisis with related institutions and organizations and to encourage their participation in the response.
In the economic sector, the meeting shared tasks related to △ revitalizing the livelihood economy and stabilizing enterprises △ promoting stability measures in industry and startups △ strengthening communication and projects with neighborhood commercial communities △ operating a support center for small business owners’ complaints △ fostering a social atmosphere for safe real estate transactions △ stabilizing the livelihood economy in farming and fisheries sectors.
In the welfare sector, the meeting shared tasks related to △ continuous local employment monitoring and customized support for employment crisis workplaces and vulnerable groups △ revitalizing culture, arts, tourism, and sports sectors and promoting safety measures for vulnerable groups △ strengthening citizen safety response systems in health and medical fields △ enhancing mental health services for psychological stability of vulnerable groups △ ensuring stable citizen life through smooth tap water supply △ implementing projects to support vulnerable groups’ adaptation to climate change.
In the safety sector, the meeting shared tasks related to △ special year-end monitoring of environmental pollution activities △ strengthening wildfire prevention and response △ enhancing citizen safety management and response systems for disasters and safety accidents △ strengthening safety management at construction and housing sites and pre-checking wage payments △ supporting risk assessment consulting and financial support projects, and requested active cooperation and promotion from all institutions and organizations.
Additionally, participants freely exchanged opinions on various measures to revitalize the local economy and alleviate citizens’ concerns beyond their respective duties, followed by a group photo session to pledge implementation of these measures.
Mayor Na Dong-yeon said at the meeting, “Although it is year-end, these days do not feel like the year-end at all, but I ask citizens and businesses not to cancel year-end dining or gatherings as much as possible to help revitalize neighborhood commercial districts and to finish the year as usual. I also urge everyone to do necessary year-end and New Year shopping within the local area.” He emphasized, “Good ideas newly derived from this expanded meeting will be actively reviewed to be reflected as much as possible, and among the existing planned projects, those that citizens can immediately feel and that can quickly lead to domestic demand recovery will be prioritized.”
