The 'Road Infrastructure Alliance' is a joint cooperation organization between industry, academia, civil society, and government established in 2021 to respond to the rapidly aging road facilities. It currently includes 17 institutions such as Seoul Facilities Corporation, Korea Expressway Corporation, Seoul National University, the Korean Society of Civil Engineers, and the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology. Through the agreement with Seoul Facilities Corporation, Gyeonggi Province becomes the first local government in the country to form a joint cooperation organization for road infrastructure alliance.

According to the agreement, Gyeonggi Province plans to exchange technology and information on the safety and maintenance management of aging road facilities with the 'Road Infrastructure Alliance,' collaborate on research and development and jointly hold seminars for road maintenance technology development and problem-solving, and provide professional personnel support for technical consultation and safety inspection evaluation.

Kang Seong-seup, Director of Construction at Gyeonggi Province, said, "By 2030, about 43% of Gyeonggi Province's local road bridges will be aging bridges over 30 years since completion, requiring proactive measures," adding, "We will work with domestic road management specialized institutions to ensure that residents can use roads safely."

Meanwhile, starting in 2025, Gyeonggi Province plans to conduct detailed safety inspections on small-scale aging bridges and operate “Bridge Doctors,” composed of specialized technicians by region, to focus on the management of aging road facilities. Additionally, the Gyeonggi Province Local Road Management Plan (2026?2030), scheduled to be established in September 2025, will include long-term focused management measures for aging road facilities and pursue multifaceted approaches.
