Actor Chow Yun-fat, famous for films such as 'A Better Tomorrow,' held an exhibition featuring photographs capturing the mornings of Hong Kong.

On the 23rd, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Chow Yun-fat presented 30 photographs at the photo exhibition 'Hong Kong Morning,' hosted by Harbour City, one of Hong Kong's representative shopping malls. The photos were taken by Chow Yun-fat while strolling through Hong Kong early in the morning. His exhibition was composed of three themes: flower photos, Hong Kong street scenes, and a series of 'selfies.'

Chow Yun-fat has been exercising in Central since last year, and to prepare for the exhibition, he started waking up earlier than usual to explore the city at dawn. He said, "Central in the early hours gives a completely different feeling. People from all walks of life come to this financial hub for work. I also have a deep connection to this street, having worked as a bellboy in Central before becoming an actor."

The camera Chow Yun-fat uses for shooting is an old 120 film camera with two lenses. He explained, "The f2.8 lens is for portraits, and the f3.5 lens is for landscapes." For the works displayed in this exhibition, he used a lens with the aperture blades removed to create an extremely shallow depth of field. Chow Yun-fat said, "I captured the subject sharply while blurring the background, making Central feel somewhat surreal."

Chow Yun-fat, who also enjoys photographing flowers, explained, "Flowers never complain, and no matter how you take pictures of them, they are beautiful." Harbour City announced that the proceeds from sales at this exhibition, which runs until January 2nd next year, will be donated in full to charity after deducting some expenses. Having appeared in about 100 films over his 50-year acting career, he said, "Photography has become another important part of my life," and added, "I am happy to work as a photographer."

Previously, in 2018, Chow Yun-fat expressed his intention to donate his entire fortune of 810 billion won. At a press conference during the Busan International Film Festival last May, he made headlines by saying, "We come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing, so it doesn't matter," and "Two bowls of rice a day are enough for me."
