The detention period of former Chief of the Defense Counterintelligence Command Yeo In-hyung, who is accused of conspiring with President Yoon Suk-yeol and others to incite a rebellion, has been extended until the 1st of next month.

According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Special Investigation Headquarters for Martial Law (Headed by Park Se-hyun, Seoul High Prosecutors' Office Chief Prosecutor) obtained court approval to extend Yeo's detention period until the 1st of next month.
Yeo was detained by prosecutors on the 14th on charges of engaging in critical tasks related to the rebellion, such as sending counterintelligence agents to the National Assembly and the Central Election Commission at the time of the martial law declaration on the 3rd, ordering the arrest of 14 key figures including representatives of both ruling and opposition parties and National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik, and securing the Central Election Commission's computer servers. Under the Criminal Procedure Act, prosecutors may extend detention once for up to 10 days beyond the initial 10-day period, allowing a maximum detention period of 20 days.
Yeo is also accused of ordering the seizure of computer data from three Central Election Commission offices and the public opinion survey organization "Kkot" operated by broadcaster Kim Eo-jun without a warrant.
