The sudden heavy rain that hit Iksan last July caused significant difficulties for local alley businesses. Flooded stores, unusable goods, and damaged facilities threatened the livelihoods of small business owners, naturally leading to a worsening of the local economic situation.
In response, the city decided to provide financial support through the Jeonbuk Disaster Relief Fund to give a glimmer of hope to affected small business owners. The recipients are those whose damages from the heavy rainfall last July have been officially confirmed.
Mayor Jung Heon-yul stated, "I hope this support will provide a small measure of hope and strength to small business owners as they overcome these difficult times," and added, "We will continue to focus all possible administrative resources on revitalizing the local alley economy and ensuring the stability of people's livelihoods."
Meanwhile, during last summer's heavy rainfall, the city operated 10 temporary housing facilities in Ungpo-myeon, Hamra-myeon, Yesan-myeon, and other areas to prioritize residents' safety. The city also provided emergency relief kits containing daily necessities and meals to about 120 residents who had to evacuate urgently, making every effort to ensure their safe protection.
