The Gongju Cultural Tourism Foundation in Chungnam announced on the 23rd that 75 applicants competed for 8 spots as resident artists at the Gongju Culture and Arts Village, resulting in a competition rate of 9 to 1.
The foundation recruited resident artists until the 6th, offering personal creative spaces, exhibition material support, exhibition opportunities, and aiming to promote visual arts and foster artists at the Gongju Culture and Arts Village.
The foundation selected 8 artists through an evaluation of artistic capabilities, job performance plans, document screening, and presentation interviews. The selected artists will be provided with creative workspaces from January to December next year.
Additionally, various artistic activities such as open studios and gallery week projects for residents and tourists, relay exhibitions (solo exhibitions), and result reporting exhibitions are planned.
Kim Jigwang, CEO, stated, "With the high competition rate for this year's resident artist recruitment and the high caliber of the selected artists, we expect the new resident artists to play a significant role in raising the standard of art through outstanding activities."
