Dong-Eui Science University Wins 1st and 2nd Place in 'Challenge! Digital Literacy Golden Bell'

On the 23rd, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do), Department of Health Convergence Welfare in the Future Convergence Division, announced that student Moon Hyo-jung and graduate Joo Mi-hyang won first place (Busan Mayor's Award) and second place respectively in the 'Challenge! Digital Literacy Golden Bell' held on the 29th of last month.

As part of the '2024 Busan Digital Helper Training Education,' this Digital Literacy Golden Bell was an opportunity for trainees who worked hard to improve their digital skills to boost their confidence by answering quizzes related to digital competency and teaching methods.

The Digital Helper Training Education is a project selected by Busan City for two consecutive years through a public contest by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It aims to train literacy teachers, who are the closest contact to illiterate and low-education school-age groups, as digital helpers to spread basic digital education to more than 3,000 vulnerable people and contribute to eliminating digital blind spots in the local community.

Moon Hyo-jung, who won the Busan Mayor's Award (1st place, Grand Prize) at this event, said, "I became a late-blooming university student and entered Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, completing literacy teacher and elementary teacher training. In the literacy education field, there are still many people in Busan who have not yet learned to read and write and face difficulties in daily life," adding, "Education to improve digital literacy in the digital age must be expanded."

Joo Mi-hyang, who received the second-place award, said, "During my studies, the interest and encouragement from the president of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology for adult learners were a great strength," and added, "The carefully selected practical extracurricular courses by the department and the Adult Learner Support Center greatly helped with practical skills, self-esteem improvement, and employment."
