Since 2017, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety has conducted this evaluation targeting 243 local governments nationwide to promote the resident participation budget system and spread best practices, selecting outstanding local governments. This year, 14 local governments received awards: 10 comprehensive awards and 4 special awards.

The city was highly evaluated for establishing participatory organizations where youth can actively participate in the resident participation budget system and for discovering various youth-focused regional projects.

Based on opinions gathered from newly established youth committees this year, surveys conducted among Uijeongbu youth, youth councils, and youth policy committees, six youth autonomous projects totaling 200 million KRW were selected and reflected in next year's budget proposal: ▲ Labor attorney voucher system to support youth labor ▲ Utilization of idle youth facility spaces ▲ Uijeongbu youth monthly rent contract safety service ▲ Support for purchasing software for Uijeongbu youth ▲ Employment and entrepreneurship lectures and networking ▲ Youth participation point system.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “This award is a valuable achievement of our efforts to incorporate the voices of youth who will lead the future into policies,” adding, “We will continue to support and spare no effort to prepare essential resident participation projects together with youth for a city changed by youth, Uijeongbu.”
