Utilization of Linear Abandoned Land
Secured 430 Million KRW in National Funding
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 23rd that it has been selected for the Ministry of Environment's 2025 public project, the ‘Ecosystem Conservation Charge Refund Project,’ securing 430 million KRW in national funding.
The ‘Ecosystem Conservation Charge Refund Project’ is a program that returns part of the ecosystem conservation charges paid by developers who have implemented natural environment conservation projects, aiming to promote ecosystem preservation and restoration.
Using the national funds secured through this selection, Paju City plans to proceed with the ‘Microorganism Habitat Creation Project Utilizing Linear Abandoned Sites.’
The project site is located in Bongseo-ri, Paju-eup, surrounded by a railway to the east and Munsancheon Stream to the west, forming an isolated and neglected linear green space. The city intends to restore this area and develop it as a habitat for microorganisms.
To this end, in cooperation with a specialized natural environment conservation company, the city plans to remove invasive plants within the project site, plant buffer green spaces, and create wetlands to restore the ecosystem.
A Paju City official stated, “We will thoroughly carry out the necessary administrative procedures during the project implementation and actively incorporate ecological restoration elements to do our best in restoring the damaged natural environment.”
