Small Plane Crashes in Brazilian Mountain Resort...All 10 Passengers Dead

A small plane crashed in a mountainous resort area in southern Brazil, killing all 10 passengers on board.


On the 22nd, the Associated Press (AP) reported, citing social media and local media, that a small plane crashed in a residential area of Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul state, in the morning. Gramado, located in the Serra Ga?cha mountain region, is a well-known resort city famous for its cool temperatures, hiking trails, European-style architecture, and Christmas festivals.

All 10 passengers on board died in the accident. Additionally, more than 12 people on the ground were injured due to smoke inhalation and were transported to hospitals. Among them, two were confirmed to be in critical condition. According to videos on social media, the plane hit a residential chimney and the second floor of a nearby building before crashing into a mobile phone store in the residential area. The impact also caused fires in nearby lodging facilities.


The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Local media reported that a Brazilian businessman named Luis Claudio Saugeiro Galeazzi (61) was piloting the plane with his family on board. Galeazzi’s company later confirmed in a LinkedIn post that Galeazzi, his wife, three daughters, family members, and company employees were traveling together and died in the accident.
