Hyundai Construction is the first in Korea to commercialize apartments with floor structures rated as Level 1 for inter-floor noise.

On the 23rd, Hyundai Construction announced that it will apply its self-developed inter-floor noise blocking technology, the 'H Silent Home SystemⅡ,' to 'The H Daechi Edelweiss' in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, which is scheduled for completion in the first half of next year. The company also plans to gradually expand the application of this technology to more apartments.

The Level 1 standard for inter-floor noise is 37 dB (decibels) or below, which is equivalent to the noise level of whispering in a library. Noise levels exceeding 37 dB but up to 41 dB receive Level 2, over 41 dB up to 45 dB receive Level 3, and over 45 dB up to 49 dB receive Level 4. For multi-family housing, performance is recognized from Levels 1 to 4, but from Level 5 onwards, additional measures such as remedial construction or compensation procedures must be undertaken.

Recently, various technologies to reduce inter-floor noise have been developed in the construction industry; however, Hyundai Construction's 'H Silent Home System' is the only technology that has been applied to actual apartments and completed performance verification.

The H Silent Home System Ⅱ is an advanced version of the H Silent Home System Ⅰ developed in 2021. It features a floor structure utilizing high-performance cushioning materials and high-density specialized mortar. High-performance cushioning materials such as polyester (PET) and polyurethane (PU), which excel in noise reduction and shock absorption, are used to block heavy impact noise transmitted when walking or running.

Hyundai Construction’s technology received Level 1 certification in lightweight and heavyweight impact noise tests for the first time among domestic construction companies in 2022.

Meanwhile, to develop inter-floor noise reduction technology, Hyundai Construction established a dedicated team and organization with specialized research facilities for the first time in the industry in 2015. Through the inter-floor noise complex research facility 'H Silent Lab,' the company introduced the 'H Silent Solution Package,' which combines floor systems with flat structure design, low-frequency and vibration control technologies, and noise detection algorithms.

A Hyundai Construction official said, "As the government recently initiated stringent measures to address inter-floor noise, Hyundai Construction is responding quickly by not only developing technology but also applying it on-site." He added, "We will continue to develop optimal residential solutions."
