High Scores in 'Integrity Effort' Compared to Other Districts Through Integrity Policies Involving All Employees and Residents
Public Officials as 'Advocates of Public Interest' and Integrity as a Fundamental Virtue... Establishing as a Model District That Provides Trust and Confidence
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it achieved a higher rating of "Grade 2" in the '2024 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, highlighting its efforts to realize trust and transparent administration.
On the 19th, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced the results of the comprehensive integrity evaluation conducted on 716 public institutions, including central administrative agencies, local governments, and education offices.
The comprehensive integrity evaluation combines ▲Integrity perception (surveys of civil petitioners and internal staff) ▲Integrity efforts (evaluation of anti-corruption policies) ▲Corruption status evaluation (occurrence of corruption incidents), producing results from Grade 1 to Grade 5.
In the 2024 comprehensive integrity evaluation, the district improved by 4.4 points compared to last year, achieving a higher Grade 2.
In particular, in the "Integrity Efforts" category, Yeongdeungpo-gu received a high score of 90.3 points compared to other institutions, recognizing its internal and external efforts for a "Clean Yeongdeungpo." Throughout the year, the district led the spread of an integrity culture by implementing various integrity policies.
Especially, through multifaceted communication such as integrity concerts, quiz events that all employees and residents could actively participate in, and operating a power abuse counseling channel using social network services (SNS), the district further enhanced integrity within the organization. Executives also took the lead in improving organizational culture by actively participating in various integrity policies such as integrity relay campaigns, resolution meetings, and recommending integrity-related books.
Moreover, District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon consistently emphasized at executive meetings that "integrity" must be the core value guiding district administration. Public officials are "servants to the people" and "representatives of public interest" who make decisions and work for the public good, and "integrity" is the most fundamental virtue among public officials.
As a result of these efforts, the district was able to rank among the top local governments in Seoul.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "As the efforts of all employees come together to create a better Yeongdeungpo, I hope you will continue to strive to eliminate corruption and dishonesty," adding, "We will boldly break away from outdated practices and carry out transparent administration both inside and outside the organization, establishing ourselves as a model autonomous district that can provide trust and confidence."
