Damyang County Achieves Grade 2 in Comprehensive Integrity Assessment of Public Institutions

Damyang County in Jeonnam has achieved a 'Grade 2' in this year's comprehensive integrity assessment of public institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, an improvement of one grade compared to last year.

The comprehensive integrity assessment of public institutions is a system in which the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission comprehensively measures and evaluates the level of integrity of 716 institutions nationwide. The evaluation is based on the 'perceived integrity' from survey results involving public institutions, civil petitioners with experience in administrative services, and internal public officials; the 'integrity effort' which assesses anti-corruption efforts made by the institution over the past year; and the 'corruption status evaluation', which deducts points for any corruption incidents that occurred.

This year, Damyang County achieved Grade 2 in the overall integrity assessment, with both perceived integrity and integrity effort improving by one grade to reach Grade 2 compared to last year, ranking among the top in the 22 cities and counties in the Jeonnam region.

The county's success was attributed to the establishment of an Integrity Policy Promotion Team led by the county governor, which actively implemented integrity initiatives. In particular, all departments autonomously set and practiced integrity tasks, held integrity forums, and promoted integrity education, thereby fostering an atmosphere where the spirit of integrity naturally permeates the public sector.

On the 22nd, County Governor Lee Byeongno emphasized, "We will do our utmost to achieve Grade 1 in integrity, building on this year's comprehensive integrity results," and added, "We will continue to promote creative and diverse integrity policies that all residents and staff can feel, thereby creating a trustworthy public service culture."
