Selection and Inspection of 6 Fire-Vulnerable Facilities over Two Days on December 18 and 19
Inspection of Goshiwon, Nursing Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Senior Welfare Facilities, Disability Facilities, and Traditional Markets
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it conducted a joint safety inspection with related organizations over two days on the 18th and 19th targeting fire-vulnerable facilities during the winter season.
The safety inspection was carried out as a preemptive check on facilities vulnerable to fire due to the increased risk of fire caused by the use of heating devices in winter, aiming to minimize human casualties and property damage.
The inspection targets were six types of fire-vulnerable facilities where human casualties could occur in case of fire: goshiwon (boarding houses), nursing hospitals, nursing homes, senior welfare facilities, facilities for the disabled, and traditional markets.
The joint inspection team included personnel from Geumcheon Fire Station, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and related officials from the district office.
The main inspection items were ▲ appropriateness of appointing fire safety managers ▲ operation status of alarm and evacuation equipment ▲ adequacy of maintenance for automatic fire extinguishing systems ▲ proper storage of gas containers ▲ measures to prevent hazards caused by wiring and extension cords.
The district office took immediate corrective and guidance actions on minor issues found on-site, and for issues difficult to fix in the short term, emergency measures were taken followed by plans to ensure safety measures could be implemented.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “We conducted sample inspections of various types of fire-vulnerable facilities together with related organizations to prevent winter fires. We will continue to manage and share cases discovered during the inspection process to do our best in fire prevention.”
In addition to this joint inspection, the district is making continuous efforts for residents’ safety. The 4th of every month is designated as ‘Safety Inspection Day’ to inspect multi-use facilities and conduct fire prevention campaigns. Also, since last November, fire extinguisher inspections and fire prevention activities have been carried out in fire-vulnerable areas such as traditional markets and multi-use facilities.
