Choi Tae-won: "Korean Economic System Operating Normally... Preparing for APEC Without Issues"

Official Letters Sent to Presidents of Chambers of Commerce in 128 Countries and Ambassadors of 116 Countries in Korea
APEC CEO Summit Chair... Promoting Stability of Korean Economy and Commitment to Successful APEC Hosting

Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), reassured the World Chambers of Commerce and foreign ambassadors in Korea that the Korean economic system is operating normally despite the December 3 emergency martial law situation and the impeachment political crisis.

On the 22nd, KCCI announced that it sent letters to chairpersons of the World Chambers of Commerce from 128 countries and foreign ambassadors from 116 countries residing in Korea.


Chairman Choi is the chairperson of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit, which will be held next year in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. Through the letter, he conveyed the stability of the Korean economy and expressed his determination to successfully host the APEC economic event.


Chairman Choi stated, "Despite a series of recent difficulties, the Korean economy is functioning normally," adding, "Based on high resilience and a stable market economy system, we will quickly overcome the challenges ahead."


He continued, "KCCI will thoroughly prepare the 2025 APEC economic event in cooperation with the government and businesses to make it an important milestone for the prosperity of Asia-Pacific countries and businesspeople."


The 2025 APEC CEO Summit will be held in late October next year in Gyeongju. KCCI is organizing the event. The theme of the event is '3B.' It signifies bridging (Bridge) businesses and governments, reality and ideals, being the main agents of innovative growth (Business), and moving toward a better (Beyond) future prosperity of the APEC community.


Lee Sung-woo, Head of the KCCI APEC CEO Summit Promotion Headquarters, said, "With just over a year left until the APEC event, KCCI will continue to promote Korea’s stability through the World Chambers of Commerce network," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure that the APEC CEO Summit, the world’s largest economic event, becomes an opportunity to enhance Korea’s national credibility."
