"Money Collected for Neighbors in Need, Hoping It Will Be Used Meaningfully"
On the 21st, Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk announced that Grandma Kim Nomi (81), who resides in Jangsu-myeon, visited Yeongju City Hall to donate 10 million won in donations for underprivileged neighbors.
Grandma Kim Nomi said, “Although my living conditions are not abundant, I wanted to do something meaningful while I am alive, so I saved every penny from my basic pension and disability pension,” adding, “I am very happy to be able to help neighbors who are more in need by donating the money I have saved like this.”
Grandma Kim’s donation is a meaningful act of sharing, practiced through years of saving despite physical difficulties, which has deeply moved the local community.
Park Nam-seo, mayor of Yeongju, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Even though the elder has physical difficulties, her long-term saving and sharing serve as an example to all of us,” and “The donated funds will be carefully delivered to the places most in need of assistance.”
