Gwangju City Achieves Four Awards in Health Promotion Sector Institutions Recognition

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) achieved the great feat of receiving awards as an excellent institution in four areas of health promotion projects in 2024.

According to the city on the 20th, Gwangju, which has carried out various citizen health promotion projects throughout the year, received awards as an excellent institution in a total of four areas in the health promotion project evaluation hosted by Gyeonggi Province, Korea Health Promotion Institute, and Gyeonggi Atopy and Asthma Center: △Integrated Health Promotion Project Health Lifestyle Practice △Prevention and Management of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases △Operation of Health Living Support Center △Prevention and Management of Atopy and Asthma Project.


In the Integrated Health Promotion Project Health Lifestyle Practice area, the city received high marks for contributing to citizens' health promotion through strengthening physical activity via senior walking activities such as the ‘Ttobagi Health Club,’ creating a healthy environment for improving health behaviors, and providing diverse and high-quality content.


Additionally, it was recognized for its contribution to the prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by expanding education on hypertension and diabetes management and providing customized education tailored to living environments, receiving commendations from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province.


Along with this, it was selected as an excellent institution in the operation of the Health Living Support Center for its efforts to reduce health disparities among citizens through establishing rehabilitation health governance and operating citizen-centered health clubs that promote citizen-led healthy lifestyle practices.


Furthermore, it was recognized for efforts to improve awareness of allergic diseases and create a better environment through non-face-to-face education tailored to target groups and traveling puppet shows centered on atopy and asthma safe schools, being selected as an excellent institution for four consecutive years.


Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “I feel rewarded that the efforts of the staff who worked hard to realize a healthy city Gwangju have borne fruit,” and added, “Next year, we will continue to carry out active health promotion projects that reflect the demands of citizens to improve the health level of our citizens.”
