Temporary Utilization Plan Established Until Full-Scale Promotion of Bukhang Redevelopment Phase 2 Project
Busan Port Authority (BPA) is making every effort to create favorable conditions for the smooth progress of the North Port Phase 2 redevelopment project.

First, the relocation of Gamman and Singamman Piers from Jaseongdae Pier, whose lease contract expires at the end of this year (December 31), will be promptly completed, and demolition work on the upper facilities owned by BPA within Jaseongdae Pier, the core site of the North Port Phase 2 redevelopment project, will commence within the year.
Even after the demolition of the upper facilities, it is expected that time will be required for project planning and government approval procedures before the full-scale promotion of the Phase 2 redevelopment project. Therefore, BPA has prepared a temporary utilization plan to maintain the port functions of Jaseongdae Pier on a provisional basis while supporting the efficiency of Busan Port logistics and the government's port development projects.
As the container cargo handling capacity within the North Port is partially reduced, BPA plans to temporarily operate cargo warehouses and container yards within Jaseongdae Pier to support logistics efficiency. The remaining areas will be used as spaces for the production of fully automated handling equipment for Busan Port and related construction for the government's port development projects.
Additionally, as a temporary replacement facility for the cargo truck parking lot at Uam Pier, which will be closed in the first half of 2025 due to the Marine Cluster development project, BPA plans to create a temporary cargo truck parking lot at Jaseongdae Pier in consultation with Busan City regarding management and operation plans, aiming to improve vehicle flow around the port.
However, these temporary utilization measures are provisional actions carried out within the scope that does not affect the promotion of the North Port Phase 2 redevelopment project.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, stated, “Considering this, we plan to sign usage contracts on a yearly basis with companies temporarily using Jaseongdae Pier, and temporary use may be terminated early depending on the progress speed of the Phase 2 redevelopment project.”
