Opened Second Store in 8 Months
Previously Acquired Business Rights in Singapore and Malaysia
SPC Group announced on the 20th that it has opened the second Shake Shack location in Malaysia, the ‘Sunway Pyramid’ branch.
This is the second store in Malaysia following the first branch, ‘The Exchange TRX’ in the capital Kuala Lumpur, which opened in April. It is located in Sunway Pyramid, a major shopping mall in Subang Jaya, a metropolitan city near Kuala Lumpur.
Shake Shack incorporated Egyptian-themed elements such as pyramids and sphinxes into the interior design to match the concept of the Sunway Pyramid mall, which is built with an Egyptian theme. The curved ceiling design represents the flow of the Nile River. The exterior walls of the store are decorated with murals by Malaysia’s renowned artist Jaemy C, who modernly reinterpreted the traditional kite Wau and Malaysia’s national flower, the bunga raya (hibiscus).
The Sunway Pyramid branch offers exclusive menu items such as the ‘Avocado Burger’ and ‘Avocado Chicken Burger.’ Additionally, it sells ice dessert products like ‘Cleopatra’s Dream’ and ‘The Golden Rule,’ which utilize local Malaysian specialties such as pistachios, passion fruit, and mango.
They also sell the ice dessert ‘Shack Attack,’ developed in collaboration with the local chocolate company Chocolate Concierge. Five percent of the proceeds from Shack Attack are donated to the local charity Yayasan Generasi Gemilang.
An SPC Group representative said, “Following Korea and Singapore, we are successfully operating Shake Shack in Malaysia and establishing a foothold in the local market. SPC Group will diversify its global business and continue to expand its influence in overseas markets.”
SPC Group acquired the Malaysian business rights through an agreement with the U.S. company Shake Shack Enterprise in 2022 and currently operates 10 stores in Singapore as well.
