The Korea Battery Industry Association (Chairman Kim Dong-myung) announced on the afternoon of the 20th that it will hold the 2024 Korea Battery Academy graduation ceremony at the COEX Conference Room in Seoul.
About 150 people will attend the graduation ceremony, including Battery Academy Director Kim Ki-soo (LG Energy Solution, CHO), officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Battery Industry Association, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, as well as instructors and trainees of the Battery Academy. The trainees attending the ceremony are evaluated as talents who were selected through a competitive ratio of up to 5:1 and completed theoretical and field practice training courses.
This year, the Battery Academy operated specialized training courses by job and field, focusing on practical knowledge centered on battery industry workers, academia, and research experts. For about 400 prospective job seekers, eight training courses including industrial basics, processes, design evaluation, and materials were developed to provide job-centered theoretical education and field practice training such as cell manufacturing and material evaluation. For about 500 workers, courses such as global trade education were developed and operated by identifying topics according to demand.
In particular, 46 battery industry-related companies, including the three major battery manufacturers and material, parts, and equipment companies, directly participated as instructors to strengthen practical training courses and activate networks between the industry and trainees.
At the graduation ceremony, trainee Lee Jin-hyo, who won first place in the industrial basics course team project, and graduates Shin Gyu-mi and Jeon Sang-min, who succeeded in employment through the Battery Academy, will present their training reviews.
Additionally, an award ceremony for outstanding instructors who actively participated in the Battery Academy education and provided practical training will be held by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Researcher Lee Jon-ha of SK On and CEO Jin Young-hoon of NBTs will receive the minister’s commendation.
The Battery Academy, established by the Korea Battery Industry Association with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is a practical workforce training institution that operates full-cycle battery training courses including cell, materials, and recycling, aiming to train a total of 5,190 people over five years.
In 2025, in addition to the existing eight developed courses, the academy plans to expand by developing additional courses reflecting industry demand, such as quality expert training and data analysis job courses.
