About 30 officials attended the opening ceremony, including Lee Jun-seung, Deputy Mayor of Busan, Jeong Jong-bok, Mayor of Gijang-gun, Hwang Pan-sik, Director of R&D Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, Song Sam-jong, Director of the National Busan Science Museum, Lee Sang-min, Vice President of Technology at KHNP, and Lee Sang-wook, Head of Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters at KHNP, to celebrate the establishment of the new exhibition hall and tour the exhibition facilities.
The Future Carbon Neutral City exhibition hall, named ‘Ecoga green (Green) World,’ showcases an advanced future energy city realized through the innovative Small Modular Reactor (i-SMR).
The exhibition hall features a futuristic energy city with various attractions such as four robotic arms and flying robots, and it is characterized by easily explaining complex concepts like carbon neutrality, i-SMR, and Smart Net-zero City through animation formats featuring characters that tell the story.
This exhibition hall was created through collaboration between KHNP’s Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters and the National Busan Science Museum to inform future generations about the necessity of clean and safe energy and to present sustainable energy solutions based on the latest technology.
Lee Sang-min, Vice President of Technology at KHNP, said, “The establishment of this exhibition hall will be an important opportunity to inform that nuclear technology plays a crucial role not only in power supply but also at the center of the climate crisis and energy transition,” adding, “The Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters will continuously support various activities to enhance science education for local children and youth.”
