One of the Most Monumental Days in Gwangjin-gu History, Reborn as an Integrity Institution
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) achieved a Grade 1 rating in the '2024 Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
This marks a remarkable achievement of winning the award for two consecutive years following last year.
On the 19th, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced the results of the comprehensive integrity evaluation conducted on 716 public institutions, including central administrative agencies, local governments, and education offices. The comprehensive integrity rating is evaluated from Grade 1 to Grade 5 by combining the 'Integrity Perception' measured through corruption awareness and experience of civil petitioners and employees, the 'Integrity Effort' measuring anti-corruption implementation performance, and the overall status of corruption.
Gwangjin-gu's comprehensive integrity rating jumped to Grade 2 at the start of the 8th elected term. This was the result of embodying kindness and integrity based on professional expertise and making multifaceted efforts. Last year, Gwangjin-gu achieved Grade 1 for the first time since its establishment. Thorough analysis of corruption vulnerability factors and the implementation of anti-corruption projects such as self-purification resolution meetings, anti-corruption integrity keepers, and public finance recovery education proved effective.
This year, they continued to work hard without complacency. To improve integrity across the entire district administration, a pledge of the 8th elected term, they repeatedly deliberated. Mayor Kim personally proposed integrity policies and actively supported budgets and personnel to implement them. He also personally prepared integrity lectures and broadcast materials, demonstrating a strong commitment to integrity.
Additionally, by utilizing the 'Gwangjin-gu Corruption Risk Map,' developed for the first time by a basic local government, they proactively responded to corruption vulnerability factors. Through multifaceted communication such as Integrity Live Concerts and Integrity Praise Relays, they took the lead in creating a fair and healthy workplace culture.
The results of these efforts were sweet. They achieved Grade 1 in the comprehensive integrity evaluation for two consecutive years. They received a perfect score in the 'Interest and Effort of the Head of Institution' category and recorded 'zero' in the 'Experience Rate of Bribery and Entertainment' category for three consecutive years.
In particular, among 243 local governments nationwide, only 10 achieved Grade 1 in this year's comprehensive integrity evaluation. Among the 716 public institutions overall, only six institutions received Grade 1 for two or more consecutive years, highlighting the significance.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I am very pleased to have achieved Grade 1 in the integrity evaluation twice in a row, which is difficult to achieve even once. I express my gratitude to the residents who trusted the district administration and the employees who worked hard to improve integrity.” He added, “We will continue to boldly eliminate outdated practices and steadily reflect the honest voices of residents and employees in district administration so that this pride can continue.”
