Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) was selected as an excellent local government in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2024 Local Government Committee Management Evaluation' and secured a special grant of 120 million won.
This evaluation focused on whether local governments systematically manage various committees they operate by improving efficiency and reorganizing unnecessary committees.
Uijeongbu City received high scores in ▲committee operation performance management ▲reorganization of overlapping and inefficient committees ▲consolidation and abolition of unnecessary committees, leading to its selection as an excellent local government.
In particular, Uijeongbu City established the '2024 Committee Reorganization Plan' to inspect the operation status of about 150 committees, converting underperforming or ineffective committees into ad hoc committees or abolishing them. In this process, six committees were abolished, and four committees are currently being considered for conversion to ad hoc status or abolition.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "Securing this special grant is the result of efforts to provide efficient administrative services for citizens," and added, "We will continue to do our best to enhance the efficiency of committee operations."
