Earlier, during the 2nd regular meeting held from November 21 to 29 for nine days, the 2024 administrative audit was conducted with a focus on closely examining pledge projects such as ‘K-Star World’ and other major priority projects, concentrating on pressing public issues, and providing in-depth inquiries and effective policy alternatives.
As a result of the administrative audit, the ‘2024 Administrative Audit Results Report’ containing a total of 159 points of criticism and corrective measures was adopted, with 103 items from the Autonomous Administration Committee (Chairman Im Hee-do) and 56 items from the Urban Construction Committee (Chairman Choi Hoon-jong).
In addition, the Budget and Accounts Special Committee (Chairman Park Seon-mi) conducted a comprehensive review of the 2025 budget proposal?the largest ever exceeding 1 trillion won since the office opened in 1989?along with the fund operation plan and the 4th supplementary budget proposal for 2024, after preliminary reviews by each standing committee from the 5th to the 15th over seven days.
On this day, Chairman Park Seon-mi of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee reported the review results, stating, “As a result of the 2025 budget review, a total of 1,661,639,000 won was cut from 17 items, including the ‘Policy Monitoring Group Activity Allowance,’ and accounted for as reserves.”
Chairman Park Seon-mi continued, “While 49% of Hanam City's total budget is allocated to essential welfare expenses, available resources are not abundant due to subway operations and various contributions, and the economic outlook for 2025 is not bright. Therefore, I urge the executive branch to exercise caution in budget execution to prevent waste through selection and concentration.”
Chairman Geum Gwang-yeon expressed in his closing remarks, “I thank my fellow council members who have worked tirelessly for the happiness of Hanam citizens and the development of Hanam over the past year, as well as Mayor Lee Hyeon-jae and all public officials who play a pivotal role in policy implementation close to citizens' lives during this long 30-day session concluding 2024.”
He added, “Throughout this year, experiencing many unexpected events, I have once again deeply realized that communication and cooperation are essential values for us to move forward together. Through this process, I engrave the urgency of communication in my heart and earnestly ask that in 2025, a regular and systematic communication channel between the council and the executive branch be activated to enhance citizens' welfare.”
Meanwhile, the first session of the new year 2025, the Year of Eulsa (乙巳年), will be the 337th extraordinary session, scheduled to be held for 10 days from February 10 to 19 next year.
