On that day, the event took place in the university cafeteria, where participants mixed over 120 heads of napa cabbage, salted in advance, with seasoning in a process called chidaegi, and then packed the finished kimchi into boxes. The prepared kimchi was delivered along with boiled pork slices to elderly residents in the local community.

President Kim Young-do of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology said, "We prepared this kimchi-making volunteer activity to share warmth and affection with the elderly in the community who are in urgent need of care," adding, "We will continue to develop and implement various programs that allow faculty and staff to accompany the local community and marginalized neighbors."

Since its launch in 2008, the DIT Faculty and Staff Volunteer Group at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has been conducting various social contribution activities such as supporting meal services, sharing samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), and distributing briquettes, based on funds collected monthly from faculty and staff salaries and donations, to assist low-income groups and elderly people living in welfare blind spots.
