Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 19th that it held a meeting with the presidents of merchant organizations on the 18th to strengthen the competitiveness and unity of local small business owners facing management difficulties due to high inflation, high interest rates, and weakened consumer sentiment.
The meeting was attended by 14 presidents of merchant organizations representing small business owners from various districts within Yangju, including the Yangju Small Business Association, neighborhood commercial communities, and public markets, as well as the head of the Employment and Economy Division and other relevant departments.
The attendees began by sharing the achievements of each commercial district over the past year and plans for future projects, then exchanged open opinions on joint promotion of small business support projects, the formation of an overall merchant organization federation to overcome the crisis faced by small business owners, and other measures to revitalize the local economy.
A Yangju city official expressed gratitude to the local merchant organizations for their efforts toward regional development and the business stability of small business owners, stating, “Through this meeting, we will actively work to support local small business owners through close cooperation with merchant organizations, including the formation of a federation to overcome the crisis faced by small business owners in the area.”
