There is a figure symbolizing the democratization movement of the Republic of Korea. Martyr Lee Han-yeol, who was shot by a tear gas canister and died on June 9, 1987, became the catalyst for the June Struggle. Thirty-seven years later, the people once again defended democracy against the December 3 Martial Law Incident. An old newspaper from 37 years ago displayed in a supermarket in Mokpo deeply moves the heart. It reminds us once again of the preciousness of democracy. Reporter Jo Yong-jun
