Riot Games announced on the 19th that its tactical shooting game 'Valorant' tournament, VCT, achieved its best performance ever this year.
According to the company, the viewership for the regional leagues of the 'Valorant Champions Tour' (VCT) grew by 53% and 24% compared to the previous year, with 810,000 viewers in the Americas and 481,000 viewers in the Pacific region, which includes Korea.
VCT EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) saw a 41% increase to 409,000 viewers, while VCT CN (China), which started this year, reached 1.8 million viewers.
International tournaments also saw a significant increase in viewership. The first international tournament of 2024, 'Masters Madrid,' recorded a peak concurrent viewership of 3.1 million.
The top-tier international tournament held in Korea last August, '2024 Valorant Champions Seoul,' established itself as the most successful Valorant international event to date. The final match recorded a peak concurrent viewership of 9.13 million and a total unique viewership of 44.38 million, more than five times the viewership of last year's tournament held in Los Angeles (LA), USA.
Riot Games stated that it distributed a total of $78.4 million (approximately 112.5 billion KRW) in VCT digital product sales revenue, financial support, and prize money to 44 teams participating in Valorant leagues worldwide.
