Dongducheon-si Leads Digital Talent Development by Operating 'SW·AI Leading School'

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 19th that it has been operating SW·AI Leading Schools as part of the Education Development Special Zone project since last October to minimize the digital education gap among local elementary, middle, and high school students and to nurture future-oriented creative talents.

Dongducheon's 'SW·AI Leading Schools' is a future digital competency enhancement project aligned with the Ministry of Education's digital-based education innovation plan, offering education courses in SW·AI fields such as robotics, Python, and deep learning, linked with specialized curricula tailored to each school's needs.

This year, classes totaling 91 sessions were conducted at three elementary schools (Dongbo Elementary, Tapdong Elementary, Soyeo Elementary), two middle schools (Dongducheon Middle, Sinhung Middle), and two high schools (Dongducheon High, Sinhung High). Additionally, about 100 more sessions, including intensive vacation programs, are scheduled to be held until February next year.

A Dongducheon city official stated, "In line with the era of digital advancement, we are focusing more on practice-oriented and practical education to cultivate SW convergence talents such as artificial intelligence (AI) using university-level educational technology, and we will actively strive to realize the goal of strengthening the SW competitiveness of Dongducheon’s children."

Meanwhile, Dongducheon City is entrusting Dongyang University with the operation of the 'SW·AI Leading Schools' and the 'Cultural Content Startup Training Course' as part of its future industry talent development projects.
