Support for Health Insurance Premiums for Low-Income and Vulnerable Groups
Contributing to the Promotion of Social Security for Gunmin
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 19th that it received a plaque of appreciation in recognition of its efforts in supporting health insurance premiums for low-income vulnerable groups from the National Health Insurance Service.
Every year, the county supports health insurance premiums for households residing in the area where the head of the household is elderly aged 65 or older, households with registered disabled persons, and single-parent families who are regional subscribers to the National Health Insurance Service and whose premium charges are below the monthly premium amount announced by the Minister of Health and Welfare.
As of November 2024, the county has supported health insurance premiums and long-term care insurance premiums for the elderly for 2,850 households per month, greatly contributing to the improvement of health and social security for low-income vulnerable residents facing financial difficulties.
County Governor Gu In-mo said, “This plaque of appreciation is the result of recognizing Geochang-gun’s efforts to help neighbors who are in the blind spots of medical welfare. We will continue to carefully monitor to ensure that no household is left unsupported and strive even harder to promote the health and welfare of low-income vulnerable groups.”
