Jeong Yura Mentions Kim Gap-su Who Criticized Lim Young-woong
"Wanted to Bash Until the End No Matter What"
"Says No Interest but Clings Pathetically"
Jung Yura, the daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), who has been continuously criticizing the progressive camp, expressed a supportive stance toward singer Lim Young-woong.
Earlier, on the 7th, just before the vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon, Lim Young-woong posted a message on his Instagram account celebrating his pet dog's birthday. A netizen who saw this sent a message saying, "What are you doing in this situation?" to which Lim Young-woong replied, "What?" The netizen then said again, "The whole nation is gathered over the impeachment motion against the president who declared martial law unconstitutionally, and while I don't expect you to raise your voice, you are really insensitive. Aren't the people who experienced the previous martial law your main audience?" Lim Young-woong responded, "Am I a politician? Why should I raise my voice?" which sparked controversy.
Poet and cultural critic Kim Gap-soo, who saw the message, voiced criticism of Lim Young-woong. On the 9th, appearing on the broadcast 'Maebulsyo,' Kim said, "'Am I a politician?' and 'Why should I raise my voice?' attitudes show a lack of basic civic literacy," adding, "If such attitudes are revealed, they can be questioned and criticized." He continued, "Even if one cannot actively act or speak out, if one adopts such a bystander attitude to evade responsibility, then they should be considered unqualified as Koreans who have made history difficult until now," delivering a harsh rebuke.
In response, on the 19th, Jung Yura posted on her social media, "The nonsense about hoping Lim Young-woong stays silent more than anyone else," sharing an article containing cultural critic Kim Gap-soo's criticism of Lim Young-woong. Jung wrote, "They keep mentioning him because they want to bash Lim Young-woong no matter what, but he says he’s not interested," adding, "Why are they so clingy and pathetic?" She continued, "If Lim Young-woong had expressed support for martial law, I would understand, but he just posted a photo of his dog's birthday party and people swarm to insult him. When he doesn't make political statements, they take it as an opportunity to crush someone they normally wouldn't dare to touch to boost their own self-esteem. It really looks bad." She also seemed to target Kim, writing, "Is it okay to treat someone much younger like that?" and "This man must be bitter when someone younger than him does well."
