GS Caltex Signs Agreement with KAIST to Foster Multicultural Talented Professionals

GS Caltex has signed an agreement with KAIST to nurture outstanding multicultural talents and will jointly support multicultural talent sponsorship projects.

On the 19th, GS Caltex announced that it signed this agreement with KAIST at the GS Tower in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and will contribute 100 million KRW annually as a development fund for four years starting this year. KAIST will provide scholarships to multicultural students and collaborate with GS Caltex on a mentoring program for multicultural youth to foster outstanding multicultural talents.

Since last year, KAIST has been selecting multicultural students through the Equal Opportunity Admission track. Taking this agreement with GS Caltex as an opportunity, KAIST plans to design and implement a multicultural talent development program by linking it with the ‘Hanmaeum Education Volunteer Group,’ which conducts mentoring volunteer activities for multicultural students.

Huh Se-hong, President of GS Caltex, stated, "In the face of rapid demographic changes, our society must pay attention to nurturing multicultural talents to prepare for the future multicultural era. We will provide continuous support so that multicultural children, adolescents, and university students can nurture their dreams, grow into outstanding talents in our society, become role models, and thereby create a virtuous social cycle."

GS Caltex has previously hired Malaysian government scholarship students as company engineers. It also supports Biwesa, a promising multicultural track and field athlete, so that he can focus on his sports career, and has donated funds to Haemil School in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, an educational institution for multicultural youth. The company is also running the Ma-eum Toktok program, which uses artistic media to help multicultural children resolve peer relationship and emotional difficulties, and improve self-esteem and social skills. Since last year, GS Caltex has been conducting a multicultural outstanding talent scholarship project in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea and the Pearl Buck Foundation.
