Joincheol Recognized as 'Outstanding Member' in Democratic Party's National Assembly Audit

Praised for Addressing Public Livelihood Issues and Proposing Rational Policies

Joincheol Recognized as 'Outstanding Member' in Democratic Party's National Assembly Audit Jo Incheol, Member of the National Assembly.

Jo Incheol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Gwangju Seogu-gap), has received the 'Outstanding Member Award' for the National Assembly audit from the Democratic Party of Korea.

During this year's National Assembly audit by the Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee, Representative Jo focused on checking the Yoon Sukyeol administration's attempts to control the media, restoring the R&D budget, and proposing concrete policies to strengthen scientific and technological competitiveness, such as revitalizing the artificial intelligence (AI) industry ecosystem. He also reignited discussions on enacting the 'AI Basic Act,' which had been stalled despite being an urgent national issue.

For balanced regional development, he called for expanding the budget for the second phase of the Gwangju AI project and normalizing the regional R&D budget. In particular, he strongly requested the Minister of Science and ICT to provide national-level support for the second phase of the AI project in Gwangju, which has the largest AI infrastructure in Korea, and received a positive response, earning praise for his thorough attention to local issues.

Representative Jo also pointed out issues such as unauthorized access to 'Grade A' national security nuclear facilities, excessive commission fees in the TV home shopping industry, and the failure of science and technology research institutes to meet mandatory employment rates for people with disabilities, while presenting alternatives. He is also continuing legislative efforts for follow-up measures after the audit, such as proposing the 'Restriction of Special Taxation Act,' which elevates AI to a national strategic technology.

Representative Jo emphasized, "The Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee of the National Assembly deals with issues closely related to the lives of the people, such as the internet, communication fees, and TV, so I have tried to address livelihood issues from the public's perspective," adding, "I will continue to represent voices from the field and devote myself to legislative activities dedicated to the national interest."
