Ministry of Science and ICT Holds New Technology and Service Review Committee Meeting
Starting from the first half of next year, a service that regularly analyzes users' communication usage patterns and recommends the optimal smartphone plan based on actual usage is expected to be introduced.
On the 18th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it held the 38th New Technology and Service Deliberation Committee meeting and designated a total of five cases, including the actual usage-based smartphone plan recommendation service and electronic prescription storage service, as regulatory exceptions.
With the implementation of the personal information transmission request system in March next year, users will be able to request that their communication usage data stored by telecom companies be transmitted to specialized personal information management institutions.
Based on this, related companies will be able to analyze communication usage data and start services that recommend the optimal plans.
Additionally, pharmacies will be able to transmit, view, and store electronic prescriptions issued by hospitals through the National Health Insurance Service instead of keeping paper prescriptions after dispensing medication.
The Ministry of Science and ICT expects that this will reduce the inconvenience and costs for pharmacies in storing paper prescriptions and activate the utilization of electronic prescriptions.
Furthermore, the diseases eligible for non-face-to-face treatment using artificial intelligence (AI) by veterinarians will be expanded from existing ophthalmic diseases to skin, dental, and joint diseases, and the number of applicable animal hospitals will increase to up to 100.
Minister Yoo Sang-im of the Ministry of Science and ICT said, "Services that innovate people's lives continue to be launched through the regulatory sandbox," adding, "We will ensure that new services can enter the market quickly in the future as well."
