Every year, Busan Port Authority timely supplies items to prevent climate-related illnesses and resulting safety accidents among port workers during the summer heatwave and winter cold wave seasons.
On the 17th, approximately 25,000 neck warmers, earmuffs, and large-capacity hot packs were distributed to about 2,500 port workers at Busan Port’s North Port, New Port, Gamcheon Port, and International Passenger Terminal to help maintain body temperature.
On the 18th, at Gamcheon Port, where outdoor work is frequent due to the nature of handling mainly frozen cargo and steel products, a campaign was held to prevent cold-related illnesses among workers. At the same time, hot packs and materials on cold illness prevention guidelines and port safety rules were distributed to workers from seven stevedoring companies at Gamcheon Port and port visitors, urging caution to prevent winter safety accidents.
BPA has expanded this year’s “Large and Small Business Safety and Health Win-Win Cooperation Project” to stevedoring companies at Gamcheon Port to support the enhancement of safety and health capabilities of small-scale port stevedoring companies.
Hong Sung-joon, BPA’s Operations Headquarters Director, stated, “We will continue to spare no effort in supporting the creation of an environment where port workers can work safely and healthily.”
