Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) announced on the 18th that it held a meeting at the Cheonma Art Center Lee Siwon Global Convention Hall and appointed 53 Yeungnam University alumni as honorary ambassadors.
The event held on the 16th was attended by about 80 people, including alumni from the Department of Architecture, College of Pharmacy, College of Business, Graduate School of Business Administration, and Law School who graduated from Yeungnam University and are active in various fields of society, as well as Yeungnam University President Choi Oechul and faculty members with administrative positions.
Fifty-three honorary ambassadors of Yeungnam University are gathered in one place for a commemorative photo.
Yeungnam University organized the honorary ambassador appointment ceremony with the goal of more effectively promoting the university’s strengths and development directions through the experiences and advice of alumni active in various fields, and creating new opportunities in admissions, employment, and external cooperation.
The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by a suggestion session to share and discuss development directions in admissions, employment, and external cooperation, where practical measures for university development were discussed. In the admissions sector, Director Jeong Jeongsun of the Admissions Office gave a presentation on Yeungnam University’s admissions promotion strategy in response to changes in the admissions environment, key admissions information, specialized departments, and newly established departments.
Next, Director Jeon In of the Career Development Office gave a presentation on employment activation, including employment rate improvements, guidance on career and employment support systems, and an introduction to employment support programs. Lastly, Director Yoon Jeonghyun of the External Cooperation Office presented on the status of development fund fundraising and donor recognition systems, strengthening contribution activities through cooperation between the university and alumni, and promoting industry-academia cooperation and employment activation using the alumni network.
Alumnus Geum Byeongmi (President of Daegu Pharmaceutical Association, Pharmacy Class of ’81), who visited her alma mater after a long time, said, “I am very honored to be appointed as an honorary ambassador as a graduate of Yeungnam University. I have always felt the value of Yeungnam University by applying the knowledge and experience I gained at the university in society.” She added, “I will do my best to contribute to the development of my alma mater in the future.”
President Choi Oechul of Yeungnam University, who organized the appointment ceremony, said, “I believe that the current status of Yeungnam University is thanks to its proud alumni. The experiences and wisdom of the alumni have come together to yield great results such as strengthening Yeungnam University’s admissions competitiveness and increasing employment rates.” He added, “Together with the honorary ambassadors, we will do our best to equip Yeungnam University with global competitiveness and nurture talents who contribute to human society. In particular, we will support the recruitment of outstanding students and provide educational programs demanded by the times so that they can grow into competitive talents.”
