Cheongdo Uri Spirit Culture Foundation (CEO Gi Hwaseo) announced that following the leisure sports facility Shin Hwarang Sky Trail located within Cheongdo Shin Hwarang Pungnyu Village, the ‘Shin Hwarang Zip Roller Coaster’ will have a trial opening on the 20th.
The Zip Roller Coaster is a 401m curved downhill facility featuring a track made of sturdy materials with various courses including curves, uphill sections, 360-degree rotations, and horizontal sections, rather than a simple straight downhill slope, providing an exciting experience where riders can feel changes in speed.
Prioritizing the safety of users, the ride is only available to those who meet all the following conditions: from 5th grade elementary school students to under 70 years old, height between 140cm and 190cm, and weight between 45kg and 100kg. It will operate three sessions per day (up to 20 people per session). The fee is 15,000 KRW for adults and youths, and 10,000 KRW for Cheongdo residents.
This facility boasts a world-class dual rail system ensuring excellent safety and convenience. Riders board a dedicated trolley with a seated harness for a comfortable ride, offering a unique experience to feel the spirit of the ancient Hwarang warriors who traveled the land to train their mind and body.
Meanwhile, another extreme facility, Shin Hwarang Sky Trail, located right next to the Zip Roller Coaster, has been attracting great interest and responses, with all sessions fully booked on weekends since its opening in August 2023.
The first floor of the Sky Trail is exclusively for toddlers, while floors two through four are available for adults and youths. It boasts the largest scale in Korea with 118 courses including 94 challenge courses, 4 mini ziplines, 2 bungee jumps, and 18 sky tykes for toddlers.
Gi Hwaseo, CEO of Cheongdo Uri Spirit Culture Foundation, expressed, “Following the thrilling Shin Hwarang Sky Trail, the opening of the Zip Roller Coaster will provide visitors with various activity experiences, inheriting the spirit and pride of the ancient Hwarang. At the same time, by continuously expanding these experiential facilities, we hope to become a new landmark that breathes great vitality into the local tourism industry.”
Cheongdo Shin Hwarang Pungnyu Village is a complex cultural (education + tourism + experience) site that modernly reinterprets the Hwarang spirit (Se-sok O-gye) and the Hwarang educational curriculum including Do-ui Sangma, Garak Sang-yeol, and Yoo O San-su. Visitors can directly or indirectly experience the new Hwarang spirit. On weekdays, lodging customers mainly consist of public institutions, companies, and youth groups, while on weekends, general tourists continuously visit.
