Suggesting Directions for Attracting Tourists through Increased Awareness and Food Festivals
The research group ‘Hangusok’ of Sacheon City Council in Gyeongnam held a final results report meeting following the research project on ‘Setting the Direction for Hosting a Food Festival to Enhance Awareness.’
This research was prepared to increase the regional brand value and attract tourists through a differentiated food festival utilizing Sacheon’s specialty products and food culture.
At the final results report meeting held on the 17th, the necessity of hosting a themed food festival unique to Sacheon City was presented by discovering food content using seafood from the Sacheon sea and local agricultural products.

Additionally, specific implementation plans for revitalizing the local economy were introduced, including creative programs incorporating the image of an aerospace industry city, experiential programs, chef-invited cooking shows, booth operations linked with local commercial districts, and support for youth startups. In particular, the importance of youth and adolescent roles and youth- and adolescent-participatory festivals was emphasized.
The research firm argued that youth- and adolescent-participatory events should grant full authority to the youth planning group from the planning stage and provide optimal support for this. At this time, guidelines regarding budget and duration should be provided to the youth.
They also insisted on the need to consider youth and adolescent participatory events such as youth SNS and cultural events, and job fairs.
A representative of the research firm emphasized, “The possibility of hosting youth- and adolescent-participatory events should be comprehensively reviewed by considering Sacheon City’s identity, the goals of local festivals, characters, and other usable assets.”
Meanwhile, the Sacheon City Council research group ‘Hangusok’ is an abbreviation of ‘Into Aerospace’ and was launched in September 2022 to establish the necessary infrastructure for the early establishment of the Space Aviation Agency and to formulate strategies for fostering and developing the aerospace industry.
It consists of six council members including Jeon Jae-seok (People Power Party, Beolyong·Hyangchon), the chairman, Kim Gyu-heon (People Power Party, Chukdong·Gonyang·Gonmyeong·Seopo), Kim Min-gyu (People Power Party, Sacheon-eup·Jeongdong), Park Byung-jun (Democratic Party, Sacheon-eup·Jeongdong), Park Jeong-ung (People Power Party, Beolyong·Hyangchon), and Choi Dong-hwan (Dongseo·Seongu·Dongseogeum·Namyang).
Council member Jeon Jae-seok said, “Through the food festival, we will strive to increase the possibility of developing it into a global event that not only attracts domestic and international tourists but also maximizes Sacheon City’s cultural and economic value beyond simply introducing food.”
