First Seoul National University Student in 9 Years from Cheongyang-gun, Population 30,000 Dasom Lim, Jeongsan High School, Cheongyang County

In Cheongyang-gun, Chungnam, a region with a population of 30,000, a student has been admitted to Seoul National University for the first time in nine years since 2016.

The Cheongyang-gun government announced on the 18th that Im Dasom, a student at Jeongsan High School from Wangjin-ri, Cheongnam-myeon, has been accepted to Seoul National University (Department of Computer Engineering) through the 2025 early admission process.

Im Dasom has consistently dedicated herself to her studies and achieved excellent academic results, and is known for her particular interest in computer engineering and AI fields.

Since the inauguration of Governor Kim Dongon in the 7th popularly elected administration, the county has continuously supported educational expenses for local institutions to improve the educational environment.

Through the “Cheongyang Sarang Talent Development Scholarship Foundation,” the county provides annual scholarships and scholarship programs to local students, and is running the “Cheongyang Top Class Learning Support” project to bridge the education gap between urban and rural areas and reduce private education expenses.

As a participant in the “Cheongyang Top Class” program, Im Dasom received online learning content, one-on-one math mentoring, and online college entrance and interview consulting over the past two years. After graduating from Jeongsan Middle and Jeongsan High School, she was accepted to Seoul National University and will receive a prestigious university entrance scholarship of 10 million won.

Governor Kim Dongon said, “Just as the saying goes, ‘Education is a long-term plan for a hundred years,’ it takes a long time to achieve tangible results, so we must pursue it with a long-term perspective. This achievement is the result of the student’s own efforts, the dedication of her parents and teachers, and the continuous support of the county and the education office.”

He added, “We will continue to strengthen our educational competitiveness and actively address the challenges of student recruitment and population decline.”
