Haenam County Office Building Selected as Excellent Architecture in Jeonnam Province

Aiming for an 'Open Government Office' with Citizens' Convenience as Top Priority

The Haenam County Government Office building in Jeonnam recently received the Excellence Award at the "2024 Jeollanam-do Outstanding Architecture Evaluation" hosted by Jeollanam-do.

According to Haenam County on the 18th, Jeonnam's outstanding architecture has been selected since 2022 to discover buildings that contribute to the development of the region's architectural culture and the enhancement of urban dignity. Starting this year, the selection has been expanded to include the public sector in order to raise residents' interest in public architecture.

The Haenam County Office is a building with one basement floor and seven above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 18,596 square meters. Construction began in June 2019 and was completed in September 2021, and it is now used as a public office for county residents.

In particular, by restoring Haenameupseong and connecting it to the office entrance with "Haenamru" at the center, the first and second floors have been designed as communication spaces for residents, creating an open government office that prioritizes residents' convenience in the era of resident autonomy. The creation of an open office space, such as installing stairs that connect directly to the newly established County Residents' Square with the relocation of the new office, has also received much praise.

County Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, "I am proud that the public office building has been recognized for its artistic value and received this award," and added, "We will continue to provide better administrative services to our residents by constructing public buildings that set an example for architectural culture."
