SK Group donated 12 billion KRW in neighborly love funds to the Community Chest of Korea to mark the end of the year.
On the 18th, SK announced that Ji Dong-seop, Chairman of the SV Committee of the SK SUPEX Council, visited the Community Chest of Korea in Jeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and delivered 12 billion KRW in donations. Since 1999, SK has donated neighborly love funds to the Community Chest of Korea every year. The cumulative donation amount for the Hope Sharing Campaign has reached a total of 246.5 billion KRW to date.
In addition to the group-level donation of 12 billion KRW this year, SK also raised approximately 6.3 billion KRW through voluntary contributions from employees of affiliates such as SK Innovation, SK Hynix, SK Materials Co., Ltd., and SK Siltron. When combined with the Hope Sharing Campaign funds, the annual donation scale reaches 18.3 billion KRW.
Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated at the '1st Korea Social Value Festa' held in September, "We face very complex and unprecedented challenges such as the climate crisis, low birth rates, and regional extinction," adding, "We need a multi-faceted approach with diverse ideas through communication and cooperation with various stakeholders to solve social problems."
This year, SK has also carried out extensive activities to solve social issues and pursue the happiness of various stakeholders. Each affiliate has consistently conducted social contribution projects such as lunchbox support for children at risk of food insecurity (Happy Dookki) and customized support for bereaved families. Additionally, the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, has been carrying out talent development activities aligned with its new vision to "cultivate leaders of the era and build an inclusive knowledge community that creates social value."
Meanwhile, in September, SK Group actively engaged in disaster recovery and relief efforts not only domestically but also overseas, including supporting 300,000 USD (approximately 431.52 million KRW) for local recovery in Vietnam, which suffered the worst typhoon damage in 30 years.
Ji Dong-seop, Chairman of the SV Committee of the SK SUPEX Council, said, "We hope this small support will help neighbors going through a difficult winter due to uncertain domestic and international economic conditions," adding, "SK will continue to carry out happiness-sharing activities that can grow together with our neighbors and society."
