Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that it has completed the installation of a small LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) storage tank in Hasan Village, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, an area not supplied with city gas, and held a completion ceremony on the 17th.

This was carried out under the 'Village-Scale LPG Small Storage Tank Supply Project,' which involves installing LPG storage tanks under 3 tons in areas without city gas supply and connecting pipelines to each household to supply LPG on a village scale.

After conducting a demand survey and selecting the target village, the city signed a business agreement with the Korea LPG Business Management Institute in May and began construction in September. The project cost a total of 791 million KRW, including 662.8 million KRW from the city, 79.1 million KRW from the province, and 79.1 million KRW from residents.

With this completion, the city explained that 38 households in the village can now use LPG instead of kerosene, reducing heating costs by about 30%. In addition to eliminating noise and soot generated by the existing oil boilers, the system provides safety and convenience comparable to city gas, as individual households no longer need to purchase LPG separately.

Hwang Jun-gi, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Yongin City, said, "Residents in areas where city gas supply is difficult can now get through the winter without the burden of fuel costs," adding, "We will continue to expand energy welfare projects to ensure no inconvenience to citizens."
