Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that as a result of mobilizing all administrative efforts such as crowd safety management and cleaning in preparation for a large-scale rally in Yeouido, the rally was peacefully concluded without a single safety incident.
So far, the district has expanded on-site and situation management personnel to prevent safety accidents caused by large crowds gathering in front of the National Assembly building in Yeouido, and established a close cooperation system with fire and police departments.
First, regardless of day or night, employees from relevant departments such as safety, cleaning, illegal street vending and illegal parking control, and roads were deployed to thoroughly manage safety by removing safety hazards. Nine additional rotating closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were installed up to Gukhoe-daero, and concentrated video patrols were conducted from the Disaster Safety Situation Room and the Integrated Control Center. Then, using a mobile situation room and disaster safety communication network, real-time sharing of on-site situations was enabled, establishing a rapid response system for crowd safety management and maintaining order.
In addition, district personnel were deployed inside subway stations such as Yeouido Station to alleviate congestion, focusing on separating passenger flow and maintaining order.
In particular, the district implemented an emergency cleaning plan, immediately collecting waste throughout the rally site after the rally ended on the 14th, and from early morning on the 15th, additional staff were deployed to patrol and clean the entire Yeouido area.
Furthermore, patrols were strengthened to manage roadside food stalls, illegal storage, and banners around the National Assembly Station area to prevent congestion and bottlenecks at exits. Special crackdowns on illegal parking were also conducted to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Additionally, a preliminary survey of road facilities was conducted, and on-site inspections were carried out to promptly restore damaged road facilities. Lastly, a rapid response team was activated within the health center to support initial emergency medical activities in case of multiple casualties.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Expecting a large number of people, thanks to the flawless implementation of safety measures in each field and the tireless efforts of employees day and night, the rally was concluded without a single safety incident,” and added, “We will continue to prioritize safety and make every effort to prevent crowd safety accidents.”
