According to Hanam City Council on the 17th, the research groups launched and active this year are ▲Social Network Service (SNS) Utilization Legislative Promotion Capacity Development Research Group ▲Hanam City Garden Creation Promotion Research Group ▲Urban Brand and Tourism Content Development Research Group. They have conducted vigorous activities such as data collection, field surveys, meetings, policy research, and benchmarking of excellent institutions and cases, and recently derived meaningful research results through the final report meeting of the research project.

First, the ‘Social Network Service (SNS) Utilization Legislative Promotion Capacity Development Research Group (Representative Jeong Hye-young, hereinafter 'SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group')’ held a final report meeting on the ‘Research Project on Activation Plans for Institutional Promotion and Legislative Activity Promotion Using SNS’ in the council’s small conference room on the same day.

On this day, the research team from Shinhan University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation presented efficient SNS utilization promotion methods for Hanam City Council, including ▲prior placement of personnel and detailed division of tasks ▲focused strategies on new media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram ▲formation of legislative monitoring and advisory groups ▲and the establishment of an ‘open community platform’ centered on unifying complaint and proposal channels.

Above all, the ‘SNS Legislative Promotion Research Group’ enhanced practical skills by directly producing video content using smartphone apps (applications) for shooting, editing, and uploading to YouTube through the ‘Smartphone Media Production’ program held every week for 2 hours each morning from August to September, totaling 10 sessions, in addition to studying specialized theories and excellent cases related to promotion in other local governments.

Despite busy legislative schedules, members immersed themselves in creating YouTube and SNS content on smartphones by learning photo editing and video production using 'Kinemaster,' one of the video editing apps, from professional instructors every week.

The ‘Hanam City Garden Creation Promotion Research Group (Representative Oh Seung-cheol)’ also held a final report meeting on the ‘Basic Concept and Basic Plan for Hanam City Local Garden’ research project on the same day.

The ‘Hanam City Garden Creation Promotion Research Group’ emphasized that Hanam is a city rich in conditions and infrastructure for garden creation, such as excellent transportation accessibility, coexistence of nature and history, Paldang Lake and Geomdansan Mountain, Namhansanseong Fortress, and Hanam Misa Lake Park, focusing on a master plan study for ‘Garden City Hanam.’

At the final report meeting of the research project, several measures were proposed to clearly define the functions and purposes of local gardens, establish directions and basic strategies for promoting garden culture projects, and prepare proactive responses to vitalize local gardens linked with Misa Hangang Park.

The research team selected Misa Island in Misa-dong 15 area of Hanam City as the target site for the ‘Hangang Misa Island Local Garden,’ proposing the creation of an observatory, skywalk bridge, Misa ferry terminal, glass botanical garden, and urban vegetable gardens along the Han River, and suggested implementing various education, experience, cultural programs, festivals, and events to realize a sustainable ecological city.

The ‘Urban Brand and Tourism Content Development Research Group (Representative Lim Hee-do)’ held a final report meeting on the ‘Hanam City Urban Brand and Marketing Strategy Establishment’ project in the council’s small conference room on the 2nd, deriving detailed directions and key projects.

The Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kyonggi University set the vision for Hanam City’s urban brand as ‘Establishing an Urban Brand Ecosystem to Strengthen Hanam City’s Urban Competitiveness’ and proposed the specific goal of ‘Hanam as the Gateway to Eastern Metropolitan Area Urban Branding.’

Specific projects proposed include ▲Garden City Hanam ▲Youth City Hanam ▲Establishment of a Hanam City Urban Brand Collaboration System for Regional Community Expansion ▲Operation of Hanam-tailored Workation Projects ▲Advancement of Hanam Urban Brand Official Website ▲Operation of Hanam Urban Brand Living Lab ▲Operation of Hanam Resident Participation Urban Brand Forum.

Additionally, they proposed strengthening marketing based on the ‘Great Swan’ visiting Namhansanseong, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site occupying the largest administrative area in Hanam City (47%) compared to Gwangju City (45%) and Seongnam City (8%), and Dangjeong Island, a treasure trove of Hanam’s ecosystem, as well as enhancing identity by changing Hanam City’s official bird.

The council members stated, “We will share the final reports completed by each research group after review with the relevant departments of the executive branch and make every effort to ensure that the policies proposed by the research groups are effectively implemented to contribute to the local economy and improve the quality of life of Hanam citizens.”

Chairman Geum Gwang-yeon said, “It is very meaningful that valuable results matching the research themes were derived through this year’s council member research group activities, enabling the preparation of concrete policies and directions. We will continue administrative and financial support so that the research groups can conduct active research next year as well.”

Meanwhile, council member research groups are formed with three or more members based on the ‘Ordinance on the Formation and Operation of Hanam City Council Member Research Groups’ regardless of affiliated special committees, for the purpose of legislative or policy research and development in specific fields. Members can join up to two research groups.
